Catalog

The Catalog API searches external bibliographic catalogs rather than your own library. Nothing here reads or writes your data, so these endpoints need no library context and a token with the read scope is enough.

Results use the same reference schema as your library, so a paper found through the catalog can be handed straight to POST /references to save it.

GET /catalog/search runs a metadata search; repeat query_list to run several queries in one request.

GET /catalog/citations and GET /catalog/references walk the two directions of the citation graph for a DOI — citations returns the papers that cite it, references returns the works it cites. Both can run to thousands of results, so they are paged: read on with offset.

POST /catalog/lookup resolves a list of DOIs to full metadata without saving anything. DOIs with no matching record come back in not_found rather than being silently dropped, so the response accounts for every DOI you asked about.
